PROJECTS

CAPITOL DAY

The Council organizes the annual Muslim Capitol Day in Lansing in order to allow Michigan's many Muslims to speak with their elected officials.  We are privileged to have bipartisan support with many hosts in the House and Senate.

DAYS OF IHSAN

The Michigan Muslim Community Council, in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council brings together thousands of individuals from around Metro Detroit to perform meaningful acts of community service through the month of December. Over 40 volunteer projects with volunteers from both the Jewish, Muslim and other communities.

Despite our differences, all religions share a similar message of peace and tolerance. We stand together to help our non-Muslim neighbors have a wonderful holiday season!

FOSTER & REFUGEE SUPPORT

During the months of Ramadan & Dhul Hijjah, the Michigan Muslim Community Council and Muslim Foster Care Association organizes gift packages to local Muslim foster and local refugee children. We believe these children deserve to experience the priceless moments of joy that come during Ramadan; and have all that they need when going back-to-school. What seems like the smallest gesture by us, can mean the whole world to a child.

RAMADAN FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER

A Ramadan initiative for all over Michigan with proceeds going to our neighbors of all faith cultures and backgrounds. This is a call to strengthen bonds of the community while fighting hunger.

OUDHIA/QURBANI PROGRAM

For many years, the Michigan Muslim Community Council - has collected and distributed the sacrificed meat to needy families in metro-Detroit. Over 30,000 lbs of meat are collected and distributed annually for Eid al-Adha. MMCC has partnered with Islamic Relief, Mercy International, Zaman, Muslim Family Services, Gleaners Food Pantry, the Detroit Muslim Mission and others to make this huge undertaking successful.

SCHOOL MAKEOVERS

Michigan Muslim Community Council and Jewish Community Relations Council-AJC parter up year-round with Nolan Elementary-Middle School. Nolan opens their doors for our volunteer to help around the school; activities include: organizing their library, painting murals and preparing the classrooms for school!

FLINT WATER CRISIS

Access to clean water is a basic human need which the people of Flint do not have. In Islam, providing water is one of the highest forms of charity. As Americans, we simply cannot allow the people of Flint to be without one of the basic necessities for life. There are approximately 100,000 Flint residents affected by the water crisis. We provided more than 500,000 bottles of water for Flint residents. We also used a portion of the funds for water safety and lead education, and also assisted in lead testing for children.
